Reds

2023 Pinot Nero, Kaltern - £21/bottle (6 available)

The grapes are ground in a northerly region of Italy called Trentino Alto Adige, north of Verona. A fantastic region for to grow a variety of grapes, but particularly good at Pinot Noir. This has intense cherry, red apple and wild berries, with a good chunk of cranberries in there too. The palate is medium bodied with a velvety texture and a long, fresh finish.

2022 Langhe Nebbiolo Sogni al Campo, Vite Colte - £21/bottle (6 available)

A lovely medium-bodied and delicate wine. Red cherry and dried herbs, classic to the grape, along with nice amounts of vanilla and toasted spice. Good tannins and fresh acidity that keeps you wanting another sip.

2024 Valpolicella, Allegrini - £14.50/bottle (30 available)

The bright ruby colour to the wine makes it pop from the glass. On the nose it shows aromas of cherries and plums, with black pepper and herbs. A powerful, smooth Valpolicella accompanied by crisp acidity and a long, fresh finish. One of my favourite wines on the list.

2024 Montepulciano D`Abruzzo, Vola Vole - £13.50/bottle (6 available)

This Montepulciano d`Abruzzo is an intense ruby red in colour with plenty of red fruits and spices on the nose. The palate is soft and round with ripe cherry, plum and a spicy, toasty note from 6 months ageing in oak barriques.

2018 Barbaresco, Produtorri del Barbaresco - £32/bottle (14 available)

A fantastic producer who consistently delivers exceptional wines vintage to vintage. Red berries, Mushroom and dried leafy herbs, along with orange peel and sweet spices. A great wine to pair with more autumnal dishes.

2019 Chianti Classico, Fontodi – £30/bottle (10 available)
A mature, rich Chianti Classico from a highly regarded producer. Exceptional length and class for the price.

2022 Le Aforne Grenache, Casadei - £23.50/bottle (6 available)

100% Cannonau (Grenache). No Oak in the wine-making process. Instead the wine is aged in Terracotta Amphorae for 6 months before further bottle ageing. It’s a big wine, showing lots of black pepper and black fruits, with Liquorice and olive notes. Organic. It will go very nicely with rich game dishes.

2020 Silare 18, Casadei – £43/bottle (2 available - more coming soon)
The top cuvée from a Tuscan winery near Bolgheri, made from 100% Cabernet Franc. Powerful, with big fruit and fantastic length. Ideal with ragù, stews, or lasagne. Organic

2023 Rosso di Montepulciano, Cruciani - £16.50/bottle (6 available)

If you haven’t tried Rosso di Montepulciano before, this is a great place to start. Predominately Sangiovese grape, giving bright cherry and red berry flavours, with soft tannins and good length.

2022 Chateauneuf-du-pape, Le Vieux Donjon – £39/bottle (2 available)
A very sexy Chateauneuf-du-Pape. This producer focuses on producing wines that express the excellent fruit produced on the estate, with minimal Oak (not new either) giving a pure and precise wine that is really special. This will pair particularly well with more delicate Game and Lamb cuts.

2018 Château Ormes de Pez, St Estèphe – £22/bottle (Sold Out)
Deep colour, dark fruit, graphite, and smoky spice. Broad-shouldered with a long finish. More of a food wine at this stage.

2018 Château de La Dauphine, Fronsac – £26/bottle (2 available)
Floral nose, ripe palate, perfectly aged. A right bank Bordeaux offering exceptional value.

2021 Château Laroque, Grand Cru Classé, St Émilion – £25/bottle (12 available OWC)
Punchy dark fruit, tobacco, and star anise. Young but already excellent after a few hours’ aeration. A superb right bank option.

2024 Beaujolais Lantignie, Jean-Marc Burgaud - £17/bottle (5 available - more available)

The Beaujolais Lantignié is deep ruby in the glass. The nose boasts bright aromas of crunchy red fruits and violets. On the palate, this wine has superb structure, with grainy tannins, concentrated red fruit flavours and a racy acidity that lifts the finish. A little young, better to sit on it for 6 months.

2022 Moulin a Vent Rochegres, Patrick Tranchand - £20/bottle (6 available)

Grown in the most northerly area of Beaujolais, Moulin a Vent is a village known for producing some of the best wines in the region. Fresh blackberries and blueberries jump out the glass, with bramble fruits on the palate and the typical minerality you’d expect. The wine is medium bodied and very good.

Whites

2023 La Rocca Soave, Peiropan - £33/bottle (6 available)

This is a truly exceptional wine. Golden yellow in the glass with a wonderful perfumed nose of exotic fruits and nuttiness, which runs through into the palate. A long and rich palate, with a little spiciness towards the end. If you like white burgundy, please give this a try, it’ll be to your liking.

2024 Beaujolais Blanc, Dominque Morel - £15.50/bottle (9 available - more coming soon)

Excellent wine for the money. 100% Chardonnay with lovely stone fruit and pineapple flavours. Lees ageing gives the wine a beautiful oiliness. There is no Oak, so the wine is fresh and light. Delicious stuff!

2022 St Veran, Vignes de Saint-Claude, Verget – £21/bottle (1 available)
This is a lovely richer style of St Veran to more. Pear more than apples on the nose, combining nicely with nutty and floral flavours. This would pair perfectly with your roast chicken, as well as richer shellfish. Smoke Salmon blinis, perfect!

2019 Chassagne-Montrachet, Les Caillerets, Jean Noel Gagnard - £40/half bottle (12 available)
One of the absolute best estates in Chassagne-Montrachet is run by winemaker and only child, Caroline Lestimé. No chemical fertilisers, herbicides or pesticides are used, with the utmost respect given toward the environment. Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Caillerets reveals marvellous fruit purity balanced with subtle melted butter and cream notes on a long, richly textured finish. Not cheap, but worth every penny!

2024 Greywacke Sauvignon Blanc, Marlborough, NZ – £18.50/bottle (37 available)
Produced by Kevin Judd (formerly Cloudy Bay). Fresh, citrus-driven, with mouth-watering acidity and a long finish. Excellent value under £20.

2023 Volratz Rheingau Riesling Trocken, Schloss Vollards, Germany - £15.50/bottle (3 available - more coming soon!)

One of the oldest wine estates in Germany. This refreshing dry style of Riesling shows Citrus fruits, as well as apricot and grapefruit. A lovely textural minerality to this wine too. Great with Asian dishes, nibbles or on its own.

Champagne

Charles Heidsieck Brut Reserve - £50/bottle (5 available)

This is a wonderful non-vintage champagne. 50% reserve wines go into the blend, giving the wine a fantastic richness. Brioche and roasted nuttiness, classic to the style, along with ripe Mango, Apricot and Victoria Plums. Exceptional wine for the money.

Whisky

POIT DHUBH 8 YEAR OLD (gift boxed) - Unchill-filtered, Gaelic Whisky - £42/bottle (4 available)

Beautifully balanced and subtly smoky Gaelic style whisky. The alcohol level is 43%, which retains a lovely oiliness to the spirit. This is how whisky used to taste, before the modern style took over. Worth a try!
